Detail: E-Seminar was organized by IEC School of Business Management and Commerce on dated 16th October, 2020 at 11:30 AM. The session was focused on preparation and strategies for employability in smart cities by Dr. Kulshrestha and it was attended by all staff members and students of IEC University. Session was hosted by Ms. Divya J Thakur Co-ordinator of seminar with introductory session respectively. After that keynote speaker Dr. Kulshrestha has started the session and she shared her thoughts on employability in smart cities such as how freshers and internship students can manage their self or can-do job perfectly in big cities and when candidate is fresher and go for job in smart cities from a small town or city then which type of problems they face. In between the session students actively interacted with the keynote speaker and exchanged their ideas and found the answers of their queries on interested topic. In the last, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Anju Saxena addressed the session and vote of thanks to Dr. Kulshrestha and all faculty and students.
Event Name: New Era Learning “Right Approach for Acing an Automated Web Interview”
Date: 20th October, 2020
Event Summary:E-Seminar was organized by IEC School of Business Management and Commerce on dated 20th October, 2020 at 11:30 AM. The session was focused on learning process in new era during web automated interview by Dr. Kumar and it was participated by all staff members and students of IEC University.
Session was hosted by Ms. Divya J Thakur organiser of seminar with introductory session respectively. After that keynote speaker Dr. Kumar has started the session and he shared his thoughts on web interview. During this covid-19 pandemic situation how we are facing issues on e-interview. So, in this session Dr. Kumar has explained about the conducting online interview, what will be the situation at the time of wen interview and how can we smartly handle this and what will be the right sources that we can use during e-interview. In between the session students actively interacted with the keynote speaker and exchanged their ideas and found the answers of their queries on interested topic. In the last, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Anju Saxena addressed the session and vote of thanks to Dr. Kumar and all faculty and students. At 12:50 PM session was warmly ended.
Event Name: PHOTONIC DAY
Date: 21st October 2020
Detail:Photonic Day celebrated on 21st October 2020 organised by IEC University and IEEE Chandigarh Subsection at 11:00 AM. The session was focused on Photonic Lights or Photonic Rays by Dr. Preeta Sharan (Professor Oxford College of Engineering Banglooru). Participants were all IEC faculties and students. Session was hosted by Ms. Divya J Thakur organiser of seminar with introductory session respectively. After that convener Dr. Inder preet Kaur (senior member IEEE) shared her views about this session that why we were celebrating then next keynote speaker Dr. Sharan has started the session and she shared her thoughts on photonic lights. Everyone was listening very carefully and taking much interest. Then after speech of Dr. Sharan next speech was delivered by Dr. Manpreet Singh Manna (Ex-Director AICTE & Senior member IEEE). Session was very interesting and also students have cleared their doubts. In the last, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Anju Saxena winds up the session and vote of thanks to Dr. Preeta, Dr. Inderpreet and Dr. Manna and all faculty and students. Event Name: One Day Trip to Thunder Zone, Chandigarh
Date: 09.06.2022
Objectives of the Activity:
- To refresh the minds of students.
- Students would feel relax while enjoying the trip.
- To create good memories with each other.
Details of the Event:IEC University (School of Commerce & Management) has organized a One Day Trip to Thunder Zone at Chandigarh. This is for the first time in the Himachal Pradesh region that such an entertaining trip has organized.
Dr. Divya Jyoti Thakur, Dean of Business Management & Commerce is the organizer of the trip. The Co-ordinator of the trip is Ms. Ruchi Jangra, Assistance Professor of business management & commerce. The trip has been organized with the great support of Dr. Shamim Ahmed (VC), Dr. Randeep Singh (Pro PC), Mr. Ajay Aggarwal (OSD). The bus departed from the University at 10:15 a.m. for thunder zone & reached at the destination at 12:05 p.m. After entering in thunder zone, students first had their fun at water park till 2:45p.m. At 3:00p.m. they had their lunch. After lunch students had visited the amusement park where they have taken many slides. At 4:50p.m. the trip ended with the great enjoyment. All students had placed to their seats in the bus. Bus departed from Thunder Zone (Chandigarh) at 4:50p.m. The bus had dropped the students at their destinations.
In all, students had enjoyed the trip a lot & had fun with each other. Also makes the remarkable joyful memories with IECIANS.

Event Name: One Day Trip to Thunder Zone, Chandigarh

Objectives of the Activity:
- To refresh the minds of students.
- Students would feel relax while enjoying the trip.
- To create good memories with each other.
Details of the Event:
IEC University (School of Commerce & Management) has organized a One Day Trip to Thunder Zone at Chandigarh. This is for the first time in the Himachal Pradesh region that such an entertaining trip has organized.
Dr. Divya Jyoti Thakur, Dean of Business Management & Commerce is the organizer of the trip. The Co-ordinator of the trip is Ms. Ruchi Jangra, Assistance Professor of business management & commerce. The trip has been organized with the great support of Dr. Shamim Ahmed (VC), Dr. Randeep Singh (Pro PC), Mr. Ajay Aggarwal (OSD). The bus departed from the University at 10:15 a.m. for thunder zone & reached at the destination at 12:05 p.m. After entering in thunder zone, students first had their fun at water park till 2:45p.m. At 3:00p.m. they had their lunch. After lunch students had visited the amusement park where they have taken many slides. At 4:50p.m. the trip ended with the great enjoyment. All students had placed to their seats in the bus. Bus departed from Thunder Zone (Chandigarh) at 4:50p.m. The bus had dropped the students at their destinations.
In all, students had enjoyed the trip a lot & had fun with each other. Also makes the remarkable joyful memories with IECIANS.
Outcome of the Activity:
- Students were able to have their enjoyable movements.
- Participants were able to have their remarkable memories.
- Students had great fun & makes them feel happy out of the education.
- Students explores their cherish movements with their friends.
- Helps in building good bond between students & teachers.
6. Guest Lectures
Event Name: Entrepreneurship
Date: 23.02.2023
Objectives of the Activity:
- To raise awareness about various aspects of entrepreneurship as an alternative career choice among the students.
- To encourage the students to develop their ability of analyzing various aspects of entrepreneurship – especially of taking over the risk and to master their entrepreneurial and managerial potentials.
- To provide knowledge about Government plans and Programmes about starting a Startup.
Details of the Event:(Report/ proceeding of the event/ meeting/ activity in 500 to 1000 words).
- Guest Lecture on "Entrepreneurship" was organised by IEC School of Commerce & Management on 23.02.23 at IEC University, Baddi, Himachal Pradesh.
- To make students aware about the various aspects of entrepreneurship as an alternative career choice among the students.
- Also to encourage the students to develop their ability of analysing various aspects of entrepreneurship – especially of taking over the risk and to master their entrepreneurial and managerial potentials and provide knowledge about Government plans and Programmes about starting a Starup.
Outcome of the Activity: (benefits/ future perspectives of the event/ meeting).
- Students were able to understand entrepreneurship concept as a whole and about the importance of generating business ideas and entrepreneurship policies.
- Participants were able to understand different innovation and entrepreneurship theories and their implications and various scientific research methods commonly used to study innovation, entrepreneurship and new technology.
- i>Students were also come to know about various types of Government schemes, programmes and incentives which are provided for creating more entrepreneurial skill among youth.
Trip to I Square Hotel , Distt.Solan (14-02-2020)
In order to give an exposure in the functioning of Hotel, an exposure visit was conducted for BSc(HM) 2nd Sem .
During the visit the students met all the Department Heads of Hotel where in they went well versed with the new techniques and procedures being followed to serve guests.
Special emphasis was given VVIP treatement process in Housekeeping .
In front office handling foreign guests was portrayed.And in kitchen the continental dishes preparation was showed to students.Table setting and Lunch preparations for restaurant was being shown to the students .
Students participated in bed making process and kitchen Preparations.
Trip to Woods Resort, Barotiwala, Distt.Solan (11-09-2019)
In order to give an exposure in the functioning of Hotel ,an exposure visit was conducted for BSc(HM) Ist Sem and BHMCT 7Th sem students .
During the visit the students met all the the Department Heads of Hotel where in they went well versed with the new techniques and procedures being followed to serve guests.The students were being shown the bed making process and got them indulged in bed making process. They were informed of the Bar Menu and various cocktails being prepared and are in demand there.In the kitchen section they came across various food items being prepared.
Front office department gave them an insight of Front Office measures being undertaken to streamline reservations.
A guest lecture by Ms. Tania Ellul on Covid related issues in hospitality industry on
Date 11 May 2021 (Online Mode) Lecture was delivered by Tania Ellul, (Traveller). With emphasis on Covid related issues that hospitality industry is facing and the future was discussed. Students showed a keen interest and asked for many more such more sessions.
A sandwich Making competition : 4th June 2021
A sandwich Making competition was organised on 4th June 2021 for the students of Hotel Management wherein they are supposed to prepare sandwich of their choice
at home and record the same so that they may send it for competition.
Expert talk on Career options in International Cruise lines dated

Parents meet on 27-05-21 via zoom
A parents meet was organized by the School of Hotel Management & Travel & Tourism for the Batches (2019-22 & 2020-23) on 27Th May 2021 at 2.30 PM.
It was conducted on Zoom. Those who did not appear via Zoom were telephonically called upon. The parents were appraised of the students’ performance in MST-1,
class attendance, special communication skill classes online etc. Parent’s response was encouraging
World No Tobacco Day 31st May 2021
World No-Tobacco day was celebrated by school of Hotel Management & Travel & Tourism virtually on Zoom. It was stressed upon to stay away from tobacco products. Faculties gave a lecture on the importance of this day. The students also participated in this by sharing their views. A pledge was taken by all the students to stay away from tobacco and it products. The event was conducted online via zoom.
Majority of students participated in this event.
Workshop on Mocktail Making and Mixology DATED 04/08/2021

School of Hotel Management, Travel and Tourism organized one day workshop on mocktail making and mixology on August 04th, 2021. Dr. Suresh Chauhan, Principal Green Hills College of Hotel management, Solan was the resource person for this event. Vice Chancellor I/C Professor (Dr.) Jitender singh and Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor (Dr.) Randeep Singh and Registrar Er. Vinod Kumar welcomed the resource person with warm gesture and discussed about the gap between industry and Academia in Hospitality sector. Dr. Vijay Thakur Dean Academics and Dr. Ashish Sharma Dean PG provided their full support during this event.
